The company also sells sweetener products. Imperial markets their products under the Imperial Pure Cane Sugar®, Dixie Crystals®, and Holly® brand names.

Imperial Sugar traces their beginnings back to 1843. That is when the first sugar mill was commissioned in what later became Sugar Land in the state. For over 100 years, the Imperial brand has been serving Texans. The Dixie Crystals brand has been supplying the Southeast since 1917. Imperial Sugar Company markets their products to food manufacturers, retail grocers, and foodservice distributors.

With their Industrial Sales, they produce a wide assortment of industrial sugar products for sale throughout the U.S. These products include bulk and liquid sugars for industrial customers. They also include a broad spectrum of packaged sugars.

The Company also serves the foodservice markets. Their product size offerings range from one-pound packages to fifty-pound bags. They also offer private label products for all major foodservice distributors.

Imperial Sugar Company also has their Specialties Group. They offer free-flowing compressible flavored granulated and powdered sugars. Their Compound Crystallization technology combines a variety of ingredients, colors, and flavors with sugar into a single, free flowing, and stable granular or powdered specialty ingredient. The Specialties Group also offers syrups, edible molasses, and flavored blends, in addition to high-specification sugars and blends.

Sugar is the organic chemical compound Sucrose (C12 H22 O11). It's a high-calorie carbohydrate, full of sweetness of course. It comes from sugarcane, which is a perennial grass. Sugarcane is chopped up and shredded then crushed to extract its juice. It turns into crystalline sugar through the process of evaporation. Sucrose also exists in sugar beets, which contribute approximately 25 percent to global sugar production. Sucrose also comes from date palm, sorghum, and the sugar maple. Alternative fuels like ethanol can be made from sugar cane.

Brazil is a major player in the sugar industry. They are the world's biggest sugar producer and exporter. India is the world's second biggest producer.

Sugar No. 11 is a favorite global sugar product. It trades on the New York Mercantile Exchange and its trading unit is 112,000 pounds. The minimum price increment for Sugar No. 11 is one hundredth of a cent ($.0001) per pound. The commodity code for Sugar No. 11 is YO.
