Commodity Plaza - BUSINESS AND MARKET

Commodity - COFFEE (Mini-Profile - Coffee Holding Company Inc.)

January 19th 2009 19:29
Let's get talking about one of my favorite commodities – coffee. Good old wake yourself up with a hot splash of tasty steaming java every morning. While author Jim Rogers expounds about coffee in his book "Hot Commodities", I like this hot commodity for its aesthetic culinary qualities too.

That being said, today's mini-profile is on Coffee Holding Company Inc. Based in Brooklyn, New York the Company also has an office in La Junta, Colorado. They're an integrated wholesale coffee roaster and dealer in the United States. Thy offer their products in three categories: Wholesale Green Coffee, Private Label Coffee, and Branded Coffee.

The Gordon Family has led the Company since its inception in 1972. Their brands include S&W, Cafe Caribe, Via Roma, Cafe Supremo, 5th Avenue, and Don Manuel. Coffee Holding Company Inc. markets their Specialty Green Coffee. They offer Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, and Utz Kapeh certified specialty green coffees. The Company's Wholesale Green Coffee is unroasted imported raw beans. They sell these to small and large roasters as well as coffee shop operators.

Through their Private Label Program, Coffee Holding Company Inc. roasts, blends, and packages coffee according to the requirements of their clients. These include supermarkets who want to sell coffee with their brand name on the package. This allows a retail enterprise to offer a pricing and flavor alternative to national brands.

In addition, the Company roasts and blends to their own specifications to package and sell coffee under their aforementioned brand names.

The Company also has their Food Service operation. They provide their clientele with coffee and/or a coffee equipment set-up.
